Honda Runner-Up In Phoenix

Billy Laninovich scored a hard-fought runner-up finish in AMA Western Regional SX Lites action at Phoenixs Chase Field.
January 19, 2006

Phoenix, AZ - SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Hondas Billy Laninovich scored a hard-fought runner-up finish in AMA Western Regional SX Lites action at Phoenixs Chase Field, and in the process snared enough points to move him into the championship lead after two rounds. The #132 Honda CRF250R rider now heads the series standings by just one point (42-41) over Team Hondas Andrew Short, last weeks round one winner at Anaheim. Short would finish fifth on the night in Phoenix, with Honda-mounted Paul Carpenter also making the top 10 in seventh.

In the premier 250 class main event, seven-time AMA SX champ Jeremy McGrath would turn in one of his best rides in recent seasons, snagging the holeshot and barely missing the podium with an impressive fourth-place performance aboard his #2 Honda CR250R two-stroke to lead all Honda riders. MDK/Motorsport.com/Hondas Nick Wey would follow Mac home in fifth, with Team Hondas Ernesto Fonseca seventh, SoBe/Samsung Mobile/Hondas Mike LaRocco eighth and BooKoo Energy/Hondas David Vuillemin 10th.

Both the AMA and World GP Supercross series now head back to Anaheim Stadium Saturday, January 21.
