Kawasaki Riders Finish 1-2

Abbott and Morros do it again with 1-2 finish.
May 23, 2008

Irvine, CA - Monster Energy Kawasakis Destry Abbott and Josh Morros rode in dominating fashion during the sixth round the AMA Hare and Hound Series in Jericho, Utah to finish on the top steps of the podium. Abbott took his third win of the season, while Morros rode to his third second-place finish. With only two races left, Abbott continued to gap the competition in the points standings and is now 43 points ahead of second place.

Add Another Win To The List
Abbott has been on a roll and in Utah led another race wire to wire. He got a great start and finished the race far ahead of the rest of the pack.

My bike ran perfect, said Abbott. It was nice to get another wire to wire finish. I knew the start was really important. Josh (Morros) and I were pretty close during the first loop, so I really turned it on during the second loop.

Chance to Clinch
In the wake of a great run over the past few of races, Abbott has the chance to clinch his fifth championship at the next round in Wendover, Nev. He will have to wait a few months since the race isnt until August 16.

I went into this race wanting to win pretty badly, said Abbott. Im really hoping to clinch before I leave for Greece (to attend the ISDE). Its a lot of worry to have a championship not closed up before a big race like the ISDE.

Staying Close
Coming off a great finish at the last round, Morros was ready to make up more ground in the points. He got a second-place start and rode his own race, trying not to make mistakes on the 94 mile course.

It was pretty dusty out there and hard to see if you got too close to someones dust, said Morros. I stayed close to Destry but on the second loop decided to ride my own pace and stay out of the dust.

Ladies Man
It doesnt happen too often at a desert race, but Morros seemed to have the girls rushing the finish line as he came across in second. Before he had his helmet off, Morros had people asking for autographs and pictures.

I really didnt know what to think, said Morros. Its cool to see people out there supporting us.

Practice Makes Perfect
The start of an AMA National Hare and Hound race is crucial, especially when the race is dusty. Abbott took time on Friday to practice his starts and it paid off since he was first coming out of the bomb start.
