I just replaced a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic with the Yamaha Road Star Silverado S and what a difference. The Vulcan was an excellent bike and I loved it but the Road Star comes with an extra bit of attention to detail and better built quality. The instrument panel has a fuel gage, clock, odometer, trip A and B, and a indication of miles traveled after the fuel light goes on - a realy neat feature. The windshield provides excellent protection and results in a quiet ride. I'm only 5-5 and 170 pounds and the bike is big but it is very easy to ride and I can sit on the seat and reach the ground flat footed so I can back it up and manuever in the parking lot with no problem. Even during the break in period I am getting over 40 mpg which is well above the advertised 36 mpg. I'll provide an update on performance after the break in period but I love the bike.
