Very Impressed

I bought a red Bandit 1250 on Thursday and have logged 358 miles in two days. It's interesting how often those who criticize a particular bike usually do so anonymously. I don't know why they're afraid to reveal their identity. Anway, to say that the Bandit is lacking in power is ridiculous. It develops peak torque at only 3,700 rpm. Peak power comes on at higher rpm, like 7,500. However, during the break-in period for the first 500 miles the owner's manual suggests not to exceed 4,500 rpm. Then for the first 1,000 miles one is not to exceed 7,000 rpm. In sixth gear 4,500 rpm is about 80-85 mph. On the long ride home from the dealer where I purchased mine (279 miles) I had her up over 90 a couple of times and up to 102 for a few seconds. Those speeds can be reached very quickly. Overall, I am very impressed with the smoothness of the engine, the flawless performance of the EFI system, and the great handling. I'm not impressed with the comfort of the seat, but then that's true of most bikes in this category. They're not going to ride like a Goldwing, and I have owned several new Goldwings. Overall, I think the Bandit is a good compromise between an all-out sport bike and a true sport-tourer, like the St1300. After it's broken in and I have logged a few more miles, I'll do another review. One more thing. The headlight on my Bandit was aimed way too low, but it's easy to adjust with the 5mm hex wrench provided in the tool kit.

Upgrades/Accessories:  Removed those ugly warning stickers from the fairing and fuel tank. Nothing else yet.
