My bike is a 2006!
This is the first bike I have ever owned. I decided to start riding after a divorce (I had wanted to for so long and this was my chance). I had to move from Ohio to Alaska and I wanted to enjoy the trip. I looked at a number of bikes and narrowed it down to the C50t or the Kawasaki Vulcan 900 touring model.
I chose the C50 because of its known reliability, formerly called the Intruder Volusia (VL800) I did replace the stock seat with the factory offered gel seat. Worth every penny. I can honestly say the only thing I wish was different on the bike after riding it cross country is a sixth gear for those long days on the open highway when you are going faster than 70. I also wish it had a tachometer.(you don't really need the tach though) Most of the time these bikes are not ridden that fast anyway. It would be nice if Suzuki offered it as an option on the touring model. Other than that, the bike handles very well, great power even with several hundred pounds of tools and gear strapped to it. Great gas mileage. I basically learned to ride on this bike. Anyone could ride this bike. Very easy to ride. Big enough and powerful enough to carry passengers and gear but small enough and user friendly enough for a beginner.
Hot weather, snowy weather, low altitude or high altitude, this bike did not have one glitch the whole way from Dayton, Ohio to Anchorage, Alaska. No matter what, I could trust this bike to start, and stay together on the road. Not one problem the entire trip. And that was loaded to the gills.
Upgrades/Accessories: Vance and Hines straightshots, Cobra Freeway bars, Kuryaken footpegs for the freeway bar, factory Suzuki gel seat, el-cheapo throttle lock, leather grip covers, K&N; filter element. I used Royal purple after the break in period. I have a hard time getting it without having it mailed to Alaska so I now use the Suzuki synthetic oil.
